Even when there is some rain leys say from April to October, its always quite limited and the is out almost every day for some hours. This weather pattern is still better than in many European countries in the summer. The catch is, prices in Thailand are less than half of European prices, means taking the price for a flight to Krabi or Phuket and adding the Thailand hotel costs its still cheaper than if you go to Spain, Italy, France etc. altogether.

Consider the low cost's of a great Phuket beach and / or  Krabi vacation or holiday and you will find out, its the right place for your vacation.

Krabi has lots of exotic and great attraction, there are the Krabi Islands with fine white sandy beaches, limestone caves to explore. Krabi diving in the coral banks is e great experience. Phi Phi Island is also in Krabi Province. Phi Phi Islands is the small Krabi Archipelago where they shot most of the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio and about 150 km further north in Phang Nga Bay they shot the the James Bond movie "The Man with the Golden Colt", its a very attractive environment around Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga and Trang.

Further in the south near the Malaysian border is the Tarutao Archipelago with Ko Lipe, it needs the Bus or a car to go there from Krabi Province. About 200 km to north east is Koh Samui and a little bit further north of Koh Samui, is the Ang Thong Marine National Park and Koh Tao, one of the best scuba diving destination in Thailand.
Its a very compact vacation destination in this part of southern Thailand, there is lots to do or just loiter on the beach and enjoy the great nightlife of Phuket or Ko Samui.

Beside of all the Krabi beaches, great scenery, caving adventure, kayaking, rock climbing over Railay Beach at Krabi's Ao Nang there are very good Krabi hotels and beach resorts. Most of this hotels are real good, not this flimsy hotel stuff like in Italy, Spain, Greece and so on. Also the wellness hype was picked up some years ago and almost every better hotel offers spa, massage plus sometimes Ayurveda and Yoga, herbal saunas are also very popular.

One of the real great stuff is the food, Thai food is served virtually on every second corner and its very cheap. By comparison, I go at least once per week -when I am at Phuket- to a beach restaurant at Phuket Chalong Bay. The lunch or dinner with mixed fried sea food, boiled rice and a coke is for about US$ 3,-. There is an nice view over Chalong Bay with all the sail boats, catamarans on the one side and apartments and houses on the other side, the right place to retire. Actually many people retire in Thailand, southern Thailand, Krabi Phuket and other places.

To start your   Krabi holiday or vacation go to Ao Nang and hire a speedboat or long tail boat for a exciting island hopping. Ao Nang is the gateway to travel   Krabi archipelagos.

At Phra Nang Bay are always some boatman with their long tail boats waiting to take you for a ride.

Make sure the guy has enough petrol with him to cover the whole distance, just ask, it happen to be several times that the long tail boat guy ran out of petrol or rather diesel. 

If you do so you must negotiate the price for the long tail boat first, in terms of pricing always follow this rule in any case, if you don't do this you get cheated merci- less. Also don't try to change the route substantially.

Chicken island and Ko Poda would be a good start (Ko or Koh is in Thai for island) and easily reachable from Ao Nang and Railay Beach.

A other   Krabi tour could be to have a look for some of   Krabi Hong islands out there.

A hong - or room - is somehow a atoll where the coral reef is replaced by a circular limestone formation which was a cave centuries ago, with the time the top of the cave eroded, fell down and the sun came in.

A boat day trip or more to Phi Phi is a must too!   If you want camping you could go to Than Bok Khorani National Park, a secluded place with no accommodation but a very picturesque scene plus limestone caves and mangrove forests. Another   Krabi attraction is the Shell Fossil Beach Cemetery. A few minutes South of Ao Nang. About 35 million years ago Ban Laem Pho Cape was a freshwater swamp with millions of snails. The remains formed a fossilized shell layer almost half a meter thick. The whole place in   Krabi province is all together about 80 million years old and was layered with shell fossils over time. Today it forms a flat platform of compacted fossils along the shore. Here is the fossil beach cemetery at Krabi Ban Lean Pho, you can see the huge fossil shell slabs in the picture right at bottom. A   Krabi tourist attraction mostly frequented by Thai people several hundred visitors per day are coming. There is a car park and shopping area just behind the cliff with a great panorama over the Andaman Sea and   Krabi Islands. A stairway leads down to the   Krabi Fossil Shell Beach, the stairs are broken off in the moment - - that means the Fossil Shell Beach can only be reached out of Ao Nang by boat. Ao Nang is only a few minutes drive to the north and   Krabi town is about 15 km to the east. But try it the interesting way, hire a boat at Ao Nang and approach the beach and cliff from the waterside. Plenty of shell handicrafts, like lamps. curtains and sea shell jewelry is offered at the car park shopping area above the Fossil Shell Beach. Year round, a plethora of beautiful sea shells are offered. To collect sea shells is rather difficult. If you are in the mood to buy some items buy them in the shop, this way also some money will stay in the pockets of the small shop holder. The shells are offered in many sizes, shapes and types.
